Advanced Placement Mathematics Courses

AP Calculus AB

Description: Calculus is a one-year course of college-level calculus.   This course focuses on preparation for the Advanced Placement Calculus AB exam. It combines a study of rates of change, limits, derivatives of various functions, maximum and minimum problems, and integration. All students will be using a graphing calculator in this course. Students in this course are required to take the AP Calculus AB Examination.

AP Engineering: Our Digital Future (The Infinity Project)

Course ID: MIF

Description: This course focuses on the fundamentals of modern engineering and technology in the information and communications age. Engineering and design examples are drawn from wireless and telecommunications, the Internet, electronic music and other multimedia technologies popular in today’s culture, Students will be exposed to new and relevant applications of mathematics, science and technology particularly modeling and designing with mathematical functions. The course is only for students involved in the Infinity Project at select schools.

AP Statistics

Description: This is a college-level course that begins with a thorough review of basic data analysis, graphical data analysis and data distributions. It quickly proceeds to a study of the concepts and techniques of correlation, regression, experimental design, sampling probability, random variables, and statistical inference including the Z test, t test and Chi-Square test. All students will be using a graphing calculator with statistical capability. Students in this course are required to take the AP Statistics Examination.
