Students with Special Needs

Special Education and related services are available to all students identified with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.

To the maximum extent appropriate, students with disabilities are included with students in general education classes.

Special Education services are provided to students with disabilities whose parents reside in the District. These services are designed to:

  • Address the unique needs of the student that result from the disability

  • Ensure the student’s access to the general curriculum so that he or she can meet the educational standards of the District that apply to all students

  • Prepare students for life, work, higher education and citizenship

The Individual Education Plan (IEP) determines graduation requirements for special education students. Students and parents/guardians are encouraged to contact the school guidance counselor to review these requirements and to plan coursework for each school year.
