Perry-Castandena Map Collection
The University of Texas gives us this incredible collection of online maps for our use. Not only does this site have maps of all the countries, states and major cities of the world, but also has historical maps, maps of the oceans, maps of the polar region and just about any other map imaginable.

Map Quest
This is an incredible site. Just type in an address and a city and get a street map with directions on how to get there also get real-time traffic reports and local news and events. A creative teacher can find some use for this site in the classroom, but if not, this is a good site to know of for personal use.

OSSHE Historical & Cultural Atlas Resource
This is a really nice site brought to you by Oregon University (Go Ducks!) that features many 'Interactive" maps of cultural and historical significance. Shockwave is required, but I haven't seen these maps anywhere else on the net.

Just go here and click on any state name and get a page full of vital information as well as links that allow you to get more detailed information. This site may not have the bells and whistles, but it is informative.

Contains a searchable database that profiles the nations of the world, including maps, information on government, current conflicts, flags, and audio of national anthems.

This site can take you on virtual tours of many of the worlds countries or cities as well as provide facts, news, current events, and cultural/historical information about them as well.

A cool site for Social Studies and Geography teachers. This site allows you to compare/contrast key statistical data between any countries in the world. This site is easy to use and fun.
