HIGHLY QUALIFIED TEACHER (HQT) COURSES  (Three semester hours)

Session Two: December 13, 2008, January 10, 24, 31, 2009, and February 7, 21, 28, 2009

Content Knowledge: Mathematics

The Mathematics HQT Course is designed to provide teachers seeking Highly Qualified Teacher status in the area of Mathematics with 45 hours of content area Mathematics.  The goal is to increase Mathematics knowledge so that teachers are better equipped to teach Mathematics to their students.  The Ohio Mathematics Content standards will be taught at a challenging level, while modeling inquiry based teaching methods to prospective Highly Qualified Teachers.  The Ohio Mathematics Content standards are integrated throughout the course in every session.  Participants are required to  bring in evidence of implementation via samples of student work to each class and develop a lesson and use that lesson with their students.
