Cleveland Mathematics and Science Partnership

WHY CONSIDER PARTICIPATION IN THE CLEVELAND MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE PARTNERSHIP??

Participation in the Cleveland Mathematics and Science Partnership Program will allow participants to:

1.     Deepen their conceptual understanding of middle grade mathematics content in accordance with NCTM Standards as well as the Ohio Academic Content Standards.

2.     Plan curriculum, instruction and assessment consistent with the NCTM standards.

3.     Identify, describe and use problem-centered inquiry teaching in their classrooms.

4.     Understand and then apply current learning theories to students’ learning of mathematics concepts.

5.     Develop a coherent statement of their personal philosophies of teaching and learning mathematics.

6.     Describe the relationship between mathematics and technology and use technology as it applies to middle grade mathematics.

7.     Select and use appropriate materials that facilitate the learning of mathematics by middle grade students.

8.     Meet the requirements of being deemed as a Highly Qualified Teacher.
