Dear CMSD Families and Friends,

The week of October 6- 10 is a very important week for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.  It is the week when Average Daily Membership (ADM) is established throughout the District.  An auditing team comes to each school to count the number of students in each classroom, and the number in attendance is compared to the number of students on each class roster.

Based on the number of students in attendance and some additional information, building funds and staffing allocations are adjusted.

The state funding we receive for the year is directly tied to attendance this week.

Parents and guardians, please help us by sending your children to school every day and on time.  If your child is sick and can not attend school, there is a specific absence form used in order to have the absence excused.

Your support in this matter is extremely important, and much appreciated.

Congratulations to Ms. Jackie Dietrich’s second grade classroom at Benjamin Franklin School, (K-8).  The class has had perfect attendance since the very first day of school!

One student told her family they shouldn't take a three-day-weekend trip they were planning because she would miss school on Friday. The family revised their plans and didn't leave until Friday afternoon.

Ms. Dietrich is a National Board Certified Teacher and has worked on literacy curriculum development for the District for a number of years.   Way to go, students and Ms. Dietrich—keep up the good work.

Sincerely,

Dr. Eugene T.W. Sanders, CEO

Chief Executive Officer
