The primary goal of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District is to become a premier school district in the United States of America.

The Department of Finance is responsible for the overall fiscal management of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. This responsibility requires oversight of the District's $1.2 billion of assets and stewardship of annual budgets approaching $700 million. To fulfill these responsibilities, the department is organized under three Divisions: Accounting, Financial Plans and Forecast, and Financial Methods and Procedures.
