The Cleveland Metropolitan School District offers bilingual instruction and English as Second Language (ESL) instruction in 11 schools for English-language learners.
Students in grades K-12 are eligible for the instruction, which covers more than 37 languages.
Specialized classes, trained ESL teachers, bilingual instructional material and native language tutorials are available at:
• Buhrer Dual Language School, Clark, International Newcomers Academy
• Joseph M. Gallagher, Luis Munoz Marin, Scranton and Walton
• Lincoln-West High School, Max Hayes and 9th Grade Academy at Thomas Jefferson
The District also offers itinerant bilingual services at other schools and vocational sites, as well as through special education programs.
Multilingual and multicultural learning are interwoven into the District’s mission. Administrators, faculty and staff are committed to providing equal educational opportunities, to ensuring qualified and culturally competent instructional staff and to promoting cultural diversity.
