The Cleveland Public Library is encouraging students from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to attend the 28th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Program at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at its MLK Branch, 1962 Stokes Blvd. in University Circle.
The program will feature Dr. Todd C. Davidson, the dynamic young pastor at historic Antioch Baptist Church, as keynote speaker. Dr. Davidson will echo Dr. King’s legacy of advocating change in society.
Monday is a national holiday to honor Dr. King and his contribution to civil rights, and all CMSD facilities are closed.
The library’s program will coincide with the inauguration of President Barack Obama, who takes the oath of office for his second term. His inauguration in Washington will be broadcast live inside the branch library and will proceed the King program.
A community reception follows the event. Seating opens at 11:30 a.m., and the event is open to the public.
