Welcome to the
Gallery!
- The Art Major at CSA begins in the sixth grade. Students
receive sequential instruction in all areas of art, including ceramics, and
computer assisted drawing. The visual arts program has been designed as a
"foundation" or "fundamental approach" to the study of
art. The courses emphasize two and three dimensional designs which become
prerequisites for more advanced and specialized courses.
- Short term courses reflect the degree of specialization
offered and include: Drawing and Painting, Fundamentals of Design,
Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography, Printmaking, Art History and Commercial
Design.
- Opportunities for CSA Art Majors include externships at
the Plain Dealer, Advanced Placement Art History at The Cleveland Museum of
Art, classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Mentor's Program (with
Cleveland Institute of Art, the Pathways Program (with Cuyahoga Community
College and the Cleveland Institute of Art), frequent field trips and
national and international artists including Pepon Osario, Angelica Pozo,
Cliff Clay, Chris Pekoc, and Consuelo Jiminez Underwood, Faith Ringgold, and
Elizabeth Catlett.
