Graduation Requirements
High Schools
- English - 4 credits (English 1, 2, 3, and 4)
- Fine Arts - 1 credit
- Foreign Language - 1 credit
- Health - 0.5 credit
- Mathematics - 3 credits (Integrated Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II)
- Physical Education - 0.5 credit
- Science - 3 credits
- Social Studies - 3 credits (World History, American History, American Government)
- Senior Seminar* - 0.5 credit (specialized career technical programs complete project in lieu of senior seminar)
- Electives - 5.5 credits
A minimum of 22.0 credits required to be eligible for graduation
* Science units must include 1 unit of biological sciences and 1 unit of physical sciences.
** Social studies units must include a minimum of a ½ unit of American History and a ½ unit of American Government.
Promotional Requirements
Minimum Credits/Units Required For Grade Level Advancement
- To Grade 10 – 5 credits
- To Grade 11 – 11 credits
- To Grade 12 – 16 credits
A student must maintain the following GPA (Grade Point Average) GPA = 2.5
Class Rankings
- All students in the class will be included in determining the class rank at each high school/campus
- Class rankings are available at each school at the conclusion of the semester
- The point system in the table below on this page will be used
- Courses with the Difficulty level of “R” carry the following points
A= 4.0 B= 3.0 C= 2.0 D= 1.0 F= 0.0
- Honors courses with the Difficulty level of “H” carry the following points
A= 5.0 B= 4.0 C= 3.0 D= 1.0 F= 0.0
- A student must take and pass all required Ohio tests to be eligible for graduation
- Students must pass all five parts of the Ohio Tenth Grade Graduation Exams in Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Citizenship as one of requirements for receiving a diploma
- A student may not receive an “F” in any core courses (English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science and Social Studies)
- A student may not have more than 5 unexcused absences per academic year
- Eligibility Requirements for Extra Curricular Activities - Students in grades 9-12 must have received passing grades in a minimum of five one credit courses, or equivalent, in the immediately preceding grading period. A student must achieve a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 in all classes. Failures are not permitted in any class on weekly eligibility cards or report cards.
In order to participate in the District-wide Internship Program for 11th and 12th graders students must have a grade point average of 2.5 in all classes and a 90% attendance rate from the prior school year.
