Parents and grandparents should check with their employers and organizations for information regarding scholarships and/or financial aid.

 

AFL-CIO Union-Sponsored Scholarships and Aid

Describes more than $4 million in scholarships, with details about eligibility, application deadlines and contact information

 

The Airmen Memorial Foundation (AMF) and The Air Force Sergeants Association

Undergraduate studies of eligible single dependent children of enlisted Air Force members on active duty, serving in the ANG/AFRES, or retired from any of these components, $500 to $3000 Deadline Unknown

 

American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO

Child or grandchild of an active or deceased member of the APWU, $1,000 renewable,

The Elks National Foundation Scholarships

Application process and deadlines vary for each of the programs. All applications, except for the scouting scholarships, must go through a local Elks Lodge before reaching the Elks National Foundation office Deadline unknown

 

International Association of Firefighters W. H. "Howie" McClennan Scholarship

Children of fire fighters who have died in the line of duty to attend a university, accredited college or school of higher learning in the United States or Canada, $2500 renewable, Deadline Feb.1

 

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

Children of current or former United States Marines and current or former United States Navy Corpsmen who have served with the United States Marine Corps or  grandchildren of one of U.S. Marine who served with the 4th Marine Division during World War II and is/was a member of their association or a U.S. Marine who served with the 6th Marine Division during World War II and is/was a member of their association, Deadline April 1

 

Navy League Foundation Scholarships

U.S. citizen, a high school graduate under the age of 25 years, and a dependent of a current or former member of the US Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or U.S.-flag Merchant Marine.  Demonstrate financial need, Only one application form is needed to apply all scholarships offered by the Navy League Foundation.  See site for deadline.

Ohio Safety Officers College Memorial Fund

Children and spouses of peace officers, fire fighters and certain other safety officers who are killed in the line-of-duty, anywhere in the United States, Must be Ohio resident, use at a participating post-secondary school in Ohio, Phone: 1-888-833-1133

 

The Ohio War Orphans Scholarship Program

Children of deceased or severely disabled Ohio veterans who served in the armed forces during a period of declared war or conflict, Must be Ohio resident, cover all instructional and general fee charges at two and four-year public colleges and universities and a portion of these charges at eligible private colleges and universities, Phone: 1-888-833-1133 or visit web site

 

The Police Family Survivor's Fund

Son or daughter of an officer killed in the line of duty, must contact policeinfo@aphf.org Deadline Unknown

 

Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association Scholarships

Children, step-children and grandchildren of Regular, Reserve, Retired or deceased officers or enlisted members who have served or who are now serving with the Naval Construction Force (Seabees) or Naval Civil Engineer Corps, or who have served, but have since been honorably discharged. Scholarships are for four year bachelor's degrees

 

TROA Scholarship Program

Children of active duty, reserve, retired and National Guard uniformed service personnel, minimum 3.0 G.P.A., $500 - $3,000

 

TROA American Patriot Scholarship Program

Children of Uniformed Services personnel-officer and enlisted, Guard and Reserves-who have died in active service, $2,500

 

The Walton Foundation Scholarship

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., child of a full time Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Associate, $6,000 over 4 years, Applications available in January from your location's personnel office. Deadline is March 1

 

Wal-Mart Associate Scholarship

$1,000 scholarship offered to high school seniors who work for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and to  Associates' children ineligible for the Walton Foundation Scholarship (due to parents length of employment or not working full time). Deadline March 1.
