Customer Service

 

Parents complained of the communication gap between the District getting important information to parents about the safety forums and other important updates.

Some parents complained over District’s automated information calling system.

Requests for social resources for troubled students.

Parents praised schools, staff and the dress code.

 

General

Need for vocational programs in schools.

New lunch process creating issues with students getting to class on time.

Student concerns about the safety of other students who skip/cut school during the day.

Don’t like K-8 students in one building.

Request for a unified dress code.

Teachers having trouble enforcing the dress code.

Administration should evaluate dress code.

 

Safety & Security

Need for all to wear student IDs.

School security assessment for after school activities.(i.e. doors propped open, security on site, new door locks, a buzz entry system).

Purchasing process is underway for metal detectors…. Should be in schools 4-6 weeks after purchase is complete

One metal detector for every 500 students

District wide safety audit will take place Nov. 13th – 16th, 2007.

Budget for new security plan partially funding by state.

Student cell phone use allowed ONLY in emergencies, before and after school….unauthorized use results in confiscation of the phone.

Concerns over the RED/BLUE security code system – are there going to be more measures need to be taken to ensure safety of students while teachers are executing the code system?

 

Academic

Student concerns that they don’t have permanent teachers and the number of substitutes  in and out of their classrooms are impacting their ability to pass tests.
